WEB dEsign — Introduction to Web Fundamentals + 6 more topics

• HTML (HyperText Markup Language): This is the structure or the "bones" of a webpage. It defines the content, like headings, paragraphs, images, and links. Think of it as the blueprint of a house.
• CSS (Cascading Style Sheets): This handles the presentation or "looks" of a webpage. It dictates colors, fonts, layout, and overall design. This is like the interior design and paint job of your house.
• JavaScript: This provides the interactivity or "brain" of a webpage. It allows for dynamic content, animations, form validations, and anything that responds to user actions. This is like the electrical system, smart home features, or moving parts in your house.

Web-based systems and websites can be broadly categorized by their functionality, how they deliver content, and their primary purpose. Let's break down the main types you'll encounter.

• Characteristics: Fast loading, secure (less server-side code to exploit), easy to host, content rarely changes.
• Best for: Portfolios, small business sites, personal blogs, landing pages, documentation.
• Technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript (client-side only), sometimes static site generators (like Jekyll, Hugo) that build all the HTML files beforehand.

• Simple Text Editors: These are basic, like Notepad (Windows) or TextEdit (macOS). They're good for quick edits but lack features helpful for coding.
• Code Editors: These are much better. They highlight your code (syntax highlighting), automatically complete code (autocompletion), and help you organize your project files. They don't usually run your code directly but make writing it much easier.
